Marissa Alexander black-interpretation and George Zimmerman-white interpretation

White person standard?
George Zimmerman was found not guilty in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Self-defense played a central role in Zimmerman’s not guilty plea and his defense’s argument against the second-degree murder charges, and his acquittal is drawing comparisons in the media to the verdict of another high-profile Florida shooting incident: the case of Marissa Alexander.
Marissa Alexander
Marissa Alexander a black Florida woman, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2012 for shooting what she described as warning shots into a wall during a confrontation with her husband. Alexander’s lawyers claimed self-defense in the case, and said her husband had a history of abuse in their relationship. Alexanders defense invoked Florida’s “Stand Your Ground law", which gives Florida residents the right to use lethal force if they feel their life is threatened. The jury sided with prosecutors in deciding Alexander’s actions were not in self-defense.
Alexanders sentencing fell under the guidelines of what’s known in Florida as the “10-20-Life” law, which set certain mandatory minimum sentences for crimes committed with a firearm. The law enacted in 1999 requires that any crime committed with a gun earns the perpetrator a minimum ten year sentence, as the Florida Department of Corrections explains. If the firearm is discharged, the convicted will receive a 20-year minimum sentence, and if shots fired from the gun injure or kill anyone, the minimum sentence is 25-years to life.
Angela Corey, who oversaw the prosecution of George Zimmerman, also tried the case against Marissa Alexander, and defended the sentencing at the time.
Black person standard?
When Marissa Alexander discharges a firearm in the direction of human beings, the Florida legislature says it’s dangerous,” Corey said, according to the Florida Times-Union. “And one of the reasons is because the bullet went through the wall where one of the children was standing. It happened to deflect up into the ceiling, but if it had deflected down it could have hit one of the children.”

The OCCUPY Movement 99% is waiting!

No victory for Occupy yet!

We can succeed only by concert. It is not,"Can you imagine better?" but "Can we all do better?" Object whatsoever is possible, still the question recurs, "Can we do better?". The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must dis-enthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country. Every victory comes with sacrifice, What is your sacrifice

Occupy wall Street is about the future!

While the Mayor New York changed the Law to get himself elected for a third term the mayor filled with his own hypocrisy has become the Prime supporter of the 1% him being a member of the one percent himself. How much have things changed for Mayor

The Occupy Movement  is about Fairness, Not Grudge!

95 percent of all Americans work for someone in the last 30 years the salary's and benefits of the top 1% has seen their income rise by 275%- 305% .in easy to understand language any  who valued  million Dollars thirty years ago is now 300 Million Dollars notwithstanding all the negative effects on our Economy.

At the end of 2012, there were 3,216 Wal-Mart employees who were enrolled in Wisconsin public health care programs, more than any other employer. Add in the dependents of Wal-Mart workers and the total jumps up to 9,207.

Whitney Houston - I Look To You

I Look To You- Whitney Huston

As I lay me down
Heaven hear me now
I’m lost without a cause
After giving it my all

Winter storms have come
And darkened my sun
After all that I've been through
Who on earth can I turn to?

Chorus:
I look to you,
I look to you
After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong
I look to you,
I look to you
And when melodies are gone In you I hear a song
I look to you

About to lose my breath
There's no more fighting left
Sinking to rise no more
Searching for that open door

And every road that I've taken
Led to my regret
And I don't know if I'm go'n make it
Nothing to do but lift my head

Chorus:

My leaves are broken
My walls are coming down on me
My rain is falling
Defeat is calling
I need you to set me free
Take me far away from the battle
I need you
Shine on me!

Wall Street - Main Street and you.

'Main Street'

A colloquial term used to refer to individual investors, employees and the overall economy. "Main Street" is typically contrasted with "Wall Street." The latter refers to the financial markets, major financial institutions and big corporations, as well as the high-level employees, managers and executives of those firms. You'll often hear about Main Street vs. Wall Street in rhetoric about the differing goals, knowledge levels, interests and political power of these two groups. Some people think that what's good for one group is bad for the other. For example, high executive pay is seen to conflict with ordinary workers' pay and job security.

Wall street world financial center

"Wall Street"

The Wall Street capitalist economy is comprised of the institutions of big finance and the captive corporations that serve them. It is a world of pure finance and maximizing financial return is the name of the game. They may or may not contribute to the creation of useful goods and services, but these are more in the nature of incidental byproducts of their profit seeking.

The Wall Street economy, which is centrally planned and managed by a global syndicate of global corporations that hold a collective monopoly over the world's money, markets, and technology for the exclusive benefit of their managers and financiers, persistently violates market rules. It bears substantial resemblance to the central planning model of Soviet communism. By contrast, Main Street economies, are decentralized, self-organizing, and far more likely to function by market rules. Defining differences between Wall Street and Main Street are summarized in this table.

"United States has a big glut of crude oil sitting in the middle of the country"

Remove all regulations, give the Private sector what they want, government should get out of their way. Give the Private sector American Land, American waterways and American Territorial waters to let them drill! drill! drill!. The result an oversupply of American Produced Oil and rising Gasoline Prices!

Reuters
Right now, the United States has a big glut of crude oil sitting in the middle of the country, and no easy way to move it. The combination of surging production from Canada's tar sands and North Dakota's Bakken region has overwhelmed the existing pipelines to the Gulf of Mexico, where it would ordinarily be refined and shipped onto the global market. As a result, the price of American and Canadian crude oil is trading at a steep discount to varieties from elsewhere in the world. After all, with fewer potential customers, oil buyers can dictate friendlier prices. West Texas Intermediate, which is traditionally considered a benchmark variety of crude used to price other types, is selling for about $106 a barrel. But according to Oil Price Information Service analyst Tom Kloza, oil from North Dakota has recently been selling for around $83 a barrel. Canadian crude has been trading for even less.

The United States is producing more oil right now than any other time in its history, The US oil and Gas consumption is at its lowest at any time in the past 10 years. There are millions of Barrels of Oil sitting all over the United States creating this surplus of Oil. Our refineries are running below capacity because the Oil companies refuse to bring these refineries up to maximum capacity. By the way these refineries were built in part by Tax Payers money on the very promise that if the government help to build these refineries the oil companies will be able to deliver gasoline cheaper.

There are many or all parts of this sinerio ordinary Americans like me seem not to be able to understand, it makes me feel stupid just to think that when we have lots of oil the price of gasoline goes up anyway. I used to think that if there is an over supply of a commodity  in the case of oil and there is less demand then price goes down. That used to be  Econ-101  and the way things are supposed to work in a normal free market society, as it currently is in the United States the beacon of free enterprise. But, there is nothing Normal about how things are in the US anymore, there is a place called Wall Street that the brightest people in the world work  and because of technology these people do not even have to be at wall Street to work there.
About $1.20 of  the cost of a gallon of gas is speculation.

Companies like Goldman Sacks according to Reuters, " Goldman Sachs is now urging investors to go long on American crude futures. In other words, the bank is telling it's customers to buy cheap while they still can". That means although America is producing more cheap oil than it ever has but the market is now and has been for some time controlled by speculators on wall street who through saber-rattling and corporate and political propaganda are able to create instability in the market place  and drive up the price of Oil. The people who produce Oil and Gasoline does not anymore make money from the Oil Production itself but from the rigging of the market place and Political gamesmanship.

About $1.20 of from the price of each gallon of gasoline or oil based product purchased today has nothing to do with oil production and delivery at the Pump but with speculation by men in suits in offices who has never seen Oil Sands, never been on a rig would never be seen around oil production or delivery but hedge their bets on finding a way to deliver gasoline to the marketplace at the highest cost bleeding consumers of the last penny and some making themselves richer and even further removed from the plight of the people around them and the country they proclaim they love.

Why Occupy Wall Street?

New York City Park
A College Student walking in a New York City Park Stopped by New York City Police department could not produce an ID handcuffed and thrown in Jail for 2 days as reported by Yahoo News This sounds like Iran or North Korea and not New York and the United States of America. We just had 2 US citizens released from Iran Jails and had to pay $500.000.00 each. I wonder how much this Student in NY will have to pay. We just had a NYPD Captain docked 10 days vacation pay for Pepper spray of "Occupy wall Street Protestors" and coolly transferred home to Staten Island as reward for that infraction. Mr Mayor! it is High time this Madness Stop! we cannot be sending our military to Irag, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and all the other places to die protecting Freedom while NYC Law Enforcement abuse our Citizens Freedom Here in the USA! The question is, are we at the point in New York City, where, if criminals dont get you or make you uncomfortable the New York City Police Department Will?.

When the protest in  Zuccotti Park "Occupy Wall Street" started the media was dismissive that the group did not have a clear agenda and it would end in failure. The group over time proved that there was much more to the protest than just the focus on Corporations having been bailed out by the Government return to solvency and now refusing to reinvest in the country and create jobs. Neither was it just the Major Banks who took serious risks with investors money, determine their own guaranteed Salaries and Bonuses backed by Boards of these institutions that consist of their friends. Neither was it the banks who got loads of money to lend to small business but hold onto these funds and are now implementing the most stringent requirements for small Businesses to qualify for these Loans, leaving small businesses with little or no operating credit. Neither was it the corrupt Credit Reporting Agencies that allowed some companies to be able to purchase the credit Ratings that favor them but went after middle class Families with a Guillotine using errors in credit report to lower credit scores.

Occupy Wall Street is all the above and more, this has been coming for a long time. In the most suttle way the rights of our citizens has been piece by piece removed from them. Police brutality and police heavy handedness since 911 have been wrapped in, "necessary to protect the Citizens from Terrorism".

Banks through over the past 10 years have unleashed themselves on their middle class customers charging exorbitant fees the most Gory is a $30:00 fee by Bank Of America to cash a check for a customer who has an existing Account. $35.00 fee for a Bank Transfer of $40.00 in the United States, $35.00 fee for a Certified Check all these transactions can be done at a Western Union for $10.00 or less. Before Technology all these transactions were done at the nominal fee of $5.00 and now with advanced technology these transactions cost 700% higher. The thing is only the middle class and the Poor pay these fees as the rich, "god bless them" are offered all kinds of silver, gold and diamond account and protection from these fees. There are middle class families that are entitled to these accounts and fees waved providing you have your Mortgage and a checking account with the Bank but most of these Customers are not told. This is why we need an effective Consumer Protection Agency.

This latest infraction By the New York Police Department and the foregoing only fan the flame of "Occupy Wall Street". Some years Ago I was on my way to Canada for a weekend vacation, presenting my necessary documents complete to Immigration at the Border. The Officer began asking some questions I thought unnecessary, I protested, I was then told if I didn't want to answer these Questions, "I should not come Canada because no one invited me". The office was so wrong I was invited by the, "Canadian department of interior in all kinds of advertisements telling me Canada was a great place for Vacation" and I should visit. Since then I have not been back to Canada.

If New York City Police Department continues to wantonly Pepper Spray Peaceful demonstrators while exercising their right. Arresting visitors and students without an ID when reasonable steps are available to resolve minor infractions, there are other Cosmopolitan City's people would want to visit and feel safe not from Criminals but the Police. "Occupy Wall Street" will be around for a long time, people will want to reverse this nation to the Home of the free.

MIDDLE CLASS forced into New Posture

From 26% unemployment or under employment, one trillion dollars in student Loans due, unprecedented Home foreclosure, Wall Street and the Banks praying on the public.
Middle class under attack

There are two Classes of workers in America  the middle Class the real growth engine of the economy and and the investor Class with access to capital who claim by some to be the,  "Job Creators". Today the middle class is in disarray and without Jobs medical coverage and loosing their homes. The Job Creators are sitting on the sidelines with over Three trillion dollars in Cash  complaining that there is too much uncertainty so the environment is not conducive to investment. The continued growth of the stock market and Corporate America reporting Record Profits debunk that myth and does not represent a poor investment climate. Ronald Reagan began to destroy the Middle Class in the 1980s attacking unions and any means of representation the middle Class had by the arbitrary firing of Air Traffic controllers who were exercising their legitimate right to strike.

. The tearing down of the middle class exploded after the 2010 Congressional and Local Elections effected by newly elected Republican Governors, Democrat Governors in conservative States and Republicans in congress and the Senate under the Phony Banner of balancing State Budgets. With forceful Legislative actions like those taken in the States of Wisconsin by Governor Scott walker and Ohio By Governor John Kasic. These Governors while taking benefits from Public sector workers gave enormous Tax cuts to the millionaires who funded their Elections.

Get Money Out of Politics

Dylan Rattigan is a  Popular talk show Host and has dedicated some time to Get Money Out of Politics through Constitutional Changes

Today we face a crushing burden of foreclosures, dropping incomes, and a financial elite that has bought our government. The elite consensus is powerful enough to prevent change, no matter who is elected. The situation seems, at least in electoral terms, hopeless. Yet, America has been here before, and has shown remarkable resilience in the darkest of times.

Wall Street from New York Harbor

So just how do we get the debate we deserve? How do we root out the corruption, greed, and fraud in our system? Clearly, the root of much evil in our system of government comes from the financing of political campaigns by powerful interests. And the Supreme Court has said that money is speech, and thus, protected by the Constitution. So we must pass a Constitutional amendment to speak back to the Supreme Court, and assert the primacy of government by the people.

My Wife the Teacher

The 'Middle Wife' by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher

I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but
the best birth story I know is the
one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back.

When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions
with my students. It helps them get
over shyness and usually,

show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes,
pictures of fish they catch, stuff
like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them.
If they want to lug it in to school
and talk about it, they're welcome.

Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid,
takes her turn and waddles up to the
front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater.

She holds up a snapshot of an infant. 'This is Luke, my baby brother, and
I'm going to tell you about his
birthday.'

'First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put
a seed in my Mom's stomach, and
Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord.'

She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to
laugh and wishing I had my camcorder
with me. The kids are watching her in amazement.

'Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, Oh,
Oh, Oh!' Erica puts a hand behind
her back and groans. 'She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh,
oh, oh!' (Now this kid is doing a
hysterical duck walk and groaning.)

' My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have
a sign on the car like the
Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this.' (Then Erica
lies down with her back against the
wall.)

'And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case
he got thirsty, and it just blew up
and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!' (This kid has her legs
spread with her little hands mimicking
water flowing away. It was too much!)
'Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe.

They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden,
out comes my brother. He was
covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center,
(placenta) so there must be a lot
of toys inside there. When he got out, the middle wife spanked him for
crawling up in there.'

Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat.

I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, when it's show-and-tell
day, I bring my camcorder, just in
case another ' Middle Wife' comes along.

Now you have two choices....laugh and close this page or pass this along
to someone else to spread the
laughs. I know what I did!!!

Live every day as if it is your LAST chance to make someone happy!!!!

Jamaican Lingo, Explained - CHACKA- CHACKA

Jamaicans Proud Lingo mi-seh-wah

The Jamaican Lingo a Proud Heritage.

Why Jamaicans so frequently "double-up" their words (Funny)
This is a "good-good" article...refreshingly inspiring and educational and, at the same time, funny.

Scroll down. Maybe you have some more expressions to add to the list.....Enjoy.

Doubling up our words

I would love for someone to explain to me why Jamaicans so frequently "double-up" their words. Has anyone at the University taken the time to study this curious phenomenon?.
Its obvious that some examples of this occurrence are just English words that we've gotten into the habit of saying twice, perhaps for the sake of emphasis. Perhaps it is easier to simply double-up a word than to find additional words to help emphasize or it's a part of a Jamaican penchant for deliberate over-exaggeration in our descriptions of even mundane things.

Other words appear not to be English at all and perhaps may have been passed down to us by our African, English or Spanish ancestors.

Consider the following examples:

Batta batta: To survive or merely get by. E.g. "How yuh stay Ralston?"
"Bwoy Lenny, mi jus deh yah a batta batta inna di recession".

Bumpy-bumpy: Very bumpy. Covered in bumps. e.g. "Gweh! Yuh face bumpy-bumpy like jackfruit!"

Cabba-cabba: Uncivilised people. "Is when Parliament get so full of cabba-cabba?"

Chacka-chacka: Untidy. Disorganized.

Cass-Cass: A noisy quarrel or controversy. (See Ray-ray) Studies have shown that the persons most likely to be involved in Cass-Cass are fool-fool, cabba-cabba people who enjoy the mix-up and ray-ray.

Deadly-Deadly: Unexciting. Boring. Conventional Jamaican wisdom is that deadly-deadly relationships often lead to infidelity. e.g. "Leroy, mi tyad ah the deadly-deadly lovin. If yuh nuh careful yuh ah go find Joe Grind inna yuh life!"
Degeh-degeh: Singly. By itself.

Dibby-dibby: Not worthy of respect. A dibby-dibby girl is best avoided. A dibby-dibby, licky-licky girl should be shunned like the plague.

Dooguh-dooguh: Sexual intercourse. What's popularly known today as "daggering". (Popularly known in places where it hasn't been completely banned by the Broadcasting Commission, that is.)
Fenkeh-fenkeh: Second rate. Lacking vigor or vitality. See pyah-pyah.

-Fool-fool: More than ordinarily foolish. Bush-level stupidity.

Good-good: Pristine, high quality. e.g. "Bwoy is mi good-good scarf yuh tek a shine shoes?!" Or "Imagine! Dis dutty bwoy go breed di parson good-good daughter!"

-Gwaany-gwaany: To be boastful. A show-off.

Henka-henka: To pine for/long for. e.g. "The Olint money gone! It nuh mek sense yuh ah henka-henka after it!"

-Labba-labba: To speak or talk excessively. Also known as "chatty-chatty".

Lay-lay: To waste time, procrastinate. E.g. "Instead of working yuh deh a lay-lay pon thingsjamaicanslove.com a day time!".

Licky-licky: Greedy. Licky-licky people frequently meet tragic ends. e.g. "Is licky-licky him did licky-licky, why Linval go eat off the young Ackee dem an dead".

-Meckeh-meckeh: Thick in texture or consistency.

Nuff nuff: Large/plentiful in number. E.g. "Yow, yuh tink dis recession is a play-play ting? Is nuff-nuff people gwine lose dem work when Government cut public sector jobs".

One-one: Singly. One by one. "Myrtle, yuh nah see Pastor Brown an di church sister dem? Him jus a jus a pick dem off, one-one; like ripe mango offa di tree!" There is also "two bi two".

Play-play: Not serious or meaningful in nature. E.g. "Junior, mi tyad of the play-play relationship. Why we can't get married?".

-Pyah-pyah: Second rate. Of inferior quality. See fenkeh-fenkeh

-Ray-ray: Controversy, pandemonium.

Sawka-sawka: To treat roughly, often in a sexual context. e.g. "No Elva, last night mi haffi stop him half way through an ask him how him a sawka- sawka di ting so!".

-Wagga-wagga: Fat. Obese. The other end result of licky-licky behavior.

-Walla-walla: To wallow or indulge in.

Warra-warra: The definition of "warra-warra" is a little hard to pin down but it seems to refer to a person's "private parts". As in: "Dutty bwoy, don't mek ah tell yuh bout yuh warra-warra!" Or "Move yuh warra-warra from side ah mi".

Woi-woi: Far away. Remote.
(N.B. Sometimes we even "triple-up" our words - e.g. "I can't believe him leave you and the baby without a penny? Jus so-so so?).

The Jamaican talk is also reflected in its Music.Famous Reggae Artists like Bob Marley use much of the Jamaican lingo in his music. While Jamaican lingo May seem to be difficult to understand by some It it is a part of its deep proud culture.

Just as the developed world celebrates the magnificence of its cultural mix. Jamaicans are extremely proud of its English, Spanish, African and Irish background where its language and heritage came from.

Target Stores Off the Rails

Target Low wages will destroy Store
Obviously not many people making comments have ever worked for Target, Target was good when it did right by its employees however in the last 2 years after employing a CEO with Wall Street back ground they changed their business plans reducing guest services in their Stores and start filling their shelves with inferior attractively merchandise.

Guests continue to shop at Target because the Stores continue to maintain a clean environment, but more often than not the Store shelves are empty and advertised merchandise is not available the very day their sales start.Target does not believe anymore in catering to their guests but to Wall Street results. They create the environment where the guests will come to the store to make purchase, most times your merchandise is unavailable and they are hoping you will purchase some inferior cheap attractively packaged merchandise that the guests does not often need and will never use.

Target pays its Team members the lowest wage in the Retail Industry, even lower than their competitor Walmart, they offer the best benefit plan in the industry but only 20% of their employees enjoy those benefits. The people who do the really hard work in Target Stores does not enjoy any of the company's benefits because the Company employ them as perennial part time employees keeping them below the minimum hours that would enable them to to get these benefits.

Target Team Members for the most part does not even get paid for holidays, a very small percentage of them do because holiday pay this is calculated on an average hour worked basis.
Team members are willed to come into work on holidays but are not compensated for it but face punitive actions by store management sometimes without knowing if they do not show up for work on Holidays. These could from write ups to reduce hours or any other action that are discriminatory action that are packaged to appear otherwise.

The current action by Target giving funds $150.000.00 to a major Political Party to influence Legislative action may be not targeting Gays and Lesbians but is a reckless action by Target Corporation at a time when the average wage increase to its core sales floor employees is between 6-8 CENTS PER HOUR.

Target like most other major retailers including Walmart has vehemently fought against Unions convincing its Team Members they can protect them better than any Union can. This is a disservice to to its Team Members by giving them the opportunity to weigh the difference, if Unions are so bad let the Team Members find out.

This controversy and bad press gives Target an opportunity to take a broad view of what is and what was or whether the want to improve their tarnished image. To do this Target must rebuild it relations with his Team members giving them a reasonable wage for their backbreaking work they do, fill its Store shelves with advertised merchandise that its guests are kept happy and not stupid rain checks that never get satisfied and phony substitutes that no one wants.

Target is a good company gone off the rails for some time now get adult supervision in the building, time to wake up TARGET.
