Target Employees Purchase Uniform


These expenses while Mandated by Target could run into exorbitant expenditures for an high School or college student , the ideal candidate Target hires for its sales floor staff. Target Stores argues the expenses are recoverable through Job expenses when doing income tax returns. This is not possible for certain employees including the nucleus of Target Employees. 15 year old High School students and some College students Mandated bu Target to purchase Red and Khaki Uniform for work cannot recover these expenses through their income Tax returns for several reasons .

"Mitt Romney Minimum Wage $7.25 is Enough"

Federal minimum wage is $7.25. If you work full time 40 hours a week and 50 weeks a year then that's about 2000 hours per year.   I'm going to semi-randomly use California state income taxes as an example.  Your state income taxes are likely to vary but aren't going to be significantly more.

Mitt Romney has reversed his position on the minimum wage ,  As recently as January, Romney said he was in favor of a hike in the minimum wage. "My view has been to allow the minimum wage to rise with the CPI [Consumer Price Index] or with another index so that it adjusts automatically over time," he told a staffer for a labor-backed group that supports a raise. And he confirmed that stance last month, telling reporters: "I haven't changed my thoughts on that." 

As usual as the Election campaign heats up and conservatives push for clear positions on his Policy Mitt Romney has moved to the position that a minimum wage is not necessary as a basis for pay equity. The truth is most Americans are very happy with the Minimum wage at $7.25 per hour based on recent polls that find 47% in favor of abolishing the minimum wage and allowing company's determine pay based on their ability.

Over the past 3years all US company s have become more productive and profitable, these company's are rolling in cash onshore and in their offshore accounts however wages for their employees have remained at 2006 levels. Company's like Home Depot, Lowe's and Target are now paying less for Part Time wages than they did 12 years ago when adjusted for cost of living increase.

"Mitt Romney was considered an honest man until the current primary Election heated up and Romney was forced to change positions on even the Minimum Wage and Lie to the American people setting aside everything this good man really believed".

The Problem Mr Romney faces is that if  Elected President of the United States he will not be able to move back to his moderate positions with a Republican majority in the house or Senate. Mitt Romney will face worse opposition on his policy's than President Obama even with  Republican majority's in the house and Senate. Mitt Romney will be sandbagged just like George Bush having to give up a lot more to get his policy through to the great detriment of the Country. One of the most dangerous Position Romney may have to succumb to is "Going to War in Iran" a policy he does not believe but committed himself to during the Primary fight with Rick Santorum. 

 Mitt Romney has shown his support for the expansion and tightening of the safety net for Americans in the past him having introduced Health Care in Massachusetts. Mr Romney s temporary Flip or Flop on the Minimum Wage would be interpreted as acquiescent to the right wing or the Republican Party. None of Mitt Romney's rivals for the nomination supported raising the minimum wage, and  Rep. Ron Paul, has said the concept of minimum wage should be scrapped. Romney's new stance may help him consolidate his position on the right, but should hurt him in November.

"Target Closes Store to Kill Union Action"

Target Violated Federal Labor Law

While the Nation await the final ruling of the Federal Judge at the National Labor Relations Board Target elect to close the Valley Stream Target Store that is in dispute. Target operates over 1400 Stores in the United States and is in the process of claiming international Retail Market Share with its purchase of over 100 Zellers Store's in Canada.

The Canadians at Zellers  who follow the developments through Targetchangeny.com a community website set up by United Food and commercial Workers International Union  to highlight plight of the workers at the Target Valley Stream Store and Target corporation in general.

One of the things Zeller's workers should be fore warned is that nothing should be taken for granted and do not believe your government the Union or most of all Target Corporation.Get real legal representation, do not allow Target to make promises they will not over time keep. Target will lie to you, get your trust and then take the rug from under your feet.

Ten months ago Target ensured the workers at the Target valley stream store that under no circumstances would the Corporation close the Store and today the valley stream Target Store is Closed and the workers who participated in trying to have Union Representation have been fired by Target. These actions were not taken by Target in a vacuum, this is retaliation they were done to send the clear message to Target workers that anyone who even attempt to seek legal representation will be dealt with ferociously by Target Corporation.

Corporations like Target are now insulated from Government actions even the Federal Court as seen in this action by Target. The matter of the Valley Stream Target Store is Still before the National Labor  Relations Board a federal Court and Target upended the Courts decision and close the store. There was testimony before the Court by Target Corporation that the Company had no intention to close the Store. Target operates over 1400 Stores ac cross the United States and over the past 3 years the Target Corporation have expanded or improved about 50% of those Stores to accommodate its new Pfresh  expansion.

Target is now using Pfresh expansion as a justification for the closure of the Target Valley Stream Store. In testimony before the National Labor  Relations Board Target failed to disclose their intention to close the Valley Stream Store. On April 29th when the Valley Stream Store was Closed Target still did not have the relevant Building Permits to start the expansion they claim they intend to do. Target does not operate like that, this is an efficient company and would not close a store for expansion without relevant Building Permits in hand."The Valley Stream Target Store was closed to bring the death Nail of the Union action to an end and send a message to Target workers we will do whatever it takes to keep Unions out of our Stores" a pledge that Target has always held dear.

The Valley Stream Target Store Gross over $2,000,000 million Dollars in weekly Sales Target Corporation is willing to Sacrifice those sales to Break the Union action and they have done that by closing the Store. The action of Target is representative of the other retailers like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's and all the other Big and small retailers who decides, "the rights that workers have is what they the Corporations allow them".

Not an empty Threat, "a message sent"!

Target illegally threatened on a number of occasions to close its store in Valley Stream, L.I., if workers successfully organized a union, according to the National Labor Relations Board.
The labor board also decided the retailer unlawfully created the impression that workers' union activities were under surveillance and that supervisors told workers they could not solicit on behalf of the union in non-working areas, said Alvin Blyer, the regional director of the labor board.
The board will now issue complaints covering those three charges and several less serious ones that allege various official company policies violate federal labor laws. Both Target and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1500, which filed the charges, were informed of the decisions Thursday, Mr. Blyer said.

Although the Union failed to organize the Target Valley Stream store the company through their actions in closing the Target Valley Stream Store sent a loud and clear message to its workers. Target corporation claim that it close the Valley stream store in order to effect construction and upgrade the Building to accommodate its P Fresh department. This would the the first of over 1400 Stores that Target will close in order to do this Construction and this is the first of over 1400 Target Stores that took action to organize this is not so Quite coincidental.
Prior to closing the Valley Stream Target Store Target Corporation fired all its Team members who supported the Union action.

Target, "SCORCHED EARTH POLICY"

Target Valley Stream Store Closing its Doors 
This Wednesday Executives of Target Corporation from their Minneapolis Headquarters Visited the Valley Stream Target Store Handing out Lay off Letters to selected Team Members. These Team members  Supported or participated in the recent effort to Unionize the Team at this Valley Stream Target Store recently.

These Team members also supported the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) as witnesses in the Boards case against Target Corporation now before a Law Judge in Brooklyn Court and awaiting his decision.

In its case before the Law Judge The NLRB presented evidence that as part of Targets effort to convince the Team not to vote for the Union, Target threatened it would "close the store" if the Union won support for the Team.The notice served on these Team Members explained that the Store is being closed to accommodate expansion and improvement to the facilities. Target is currently expanding its Existing Stores adding its extended Market Pfresh to all its Locations. Target operates over 1800 Stores throughout the United States, The initial roll-out of PFresh included about 100 stores. Most of these were existing stores that remodeled and expanded space to accommodate the new grocery layout, but some newly built stores that opened in 2009 incorporated the new format as well. 

Target corporation and Target Stores has perfected the construction of these expansions without Store closure. The notice of Lay off to certain Team members of the Valley Stream Target Store is unprecedented, no Target Team member has ever been laid off at a Target Store before for purposes of construction. This would be the most interesting fact to be put before the Law Judge who is now considering the evidence presented to him in the recent  trial of Target corporation and Target Valley Stream Store on the various violations of New York State and Federal Labor Laws during the Recent UFCW Local 1500  effort to Unionize Team members at the Valley Stream Target Store.

Target Corporation and Target Valley Stream Store by choosing to close the Store while 
legal remedy is being considered by a Law Judge seem to be over reach by this major 
corporation. The Law Judge must be extremely impressed that while he is considering a decision 
in the case against Target Corporation and Target Stores Valley Stream the company has put itself 
above the Law and determining its own remedy to be, "its Scorched Earth Policy" of wiping out the 
Team Members who think Union representation would given them a chance for better pay and 
benefits.

The Middle Class Worker
 In the Richest Nation in the World lies a Large Industrial City. A site of one of the largest slave labor camps. Near the center are community settlements where slaves live. Each Morning, people move "herd-like" from those quarters into the Industrial Camp. Each one is in his or her station by 7:30 A.M. Here they report to their masters for their duties. Then they remained chained until 5:00 P.M when they are released. They have no choice on how many hours they must labor , sometimes they are required to work overtime until their master tells them when they may leave.
Each year , they are told when to take their vacation , for how long, and when they must return. They have little choice as to how much money they earn. They are allowed very little time for lunch and coffee breaks during these labor hours. They remain in their chains with great fear because the masters punish them with the "lay-off" whip. It is said that some slaves that are good and faithful, have felt the sting of the whip. Day by day, year by year they toil until the master decides that is time for them to stop working.

He then releases them to retirement camps where they are forced to sit idle and wait for death. Its a well known fact that the old slaves that try to work are sometimes whipped with the "stop-your-pension" whip.

I know these slaves camps really exist, for I am a free man who lives among the slaves. I am business for myself. I am truly free In the morning called for by my own schedule. I decide my own hours, I can even sleep-in late while the slaves are at work. I can vacation when, where and how long I please. I am free to take my coffee break  and lunch break when I decide, and course I decide my own paycheck because am no longer a slave. I can choose to work when and where I please. I am free to stay in the city for as long as I want or to move to greener pastures if I decide to.

I worked for Target Corporation for 9 years and this was my exact story. I always felt trapped, I felt enslaved and was asked to enslave others. That was a difficult thing for me to do, I did, it was my Job. I was fired, then told I was retired. I did not make that decision someone made it for me.

Target Team Members Vote for Union

On Friday Team Members of Target Valley Stream will vote to Unionize, the Team Members will win this vote against Target Corporation becoming the first Target Store in the Nation to have a say in how they are treated at work and not left to the harsh realities set by Target.

These courageous Team Members had enough of Targets Corporate Welfare behavior where they give these hard working Team members 6-8 hour a week in order to keep their average weekly hours to a minimum in order not to qualify for benefits such as medical, paid vacation, holiday with pay and bereavement benefits and college reimbursements.

Target Corporation offer all these benefits and they look good and attractive when you apply for a Job at Target but because of Targets Practices less than 2% of the Employees at Target qualify for these Benefits.

Target Boast that they are an Equal Opportunity Employer that is so far from the truth, there are a lot of opportunities at Target but those who enjoy them are the chosen few. Having a Union may not change all the ills at Target but will certainly give the Team Members a greater say in how Qualified Team Members are Promoted and how the available hours in the Store is dispensed.

Target continue to Threaten its Team Members in all its Stores in New York if they Join a Union they will Close the Stores, By LAW TARGET CANNOT CLOSE THE VALLEY STREAM STORE BECAUSE THE TEAM VOTE TO UNIONIZE THEY WOULD HAVE TO CLOSE ALL THEIR IN NEW YORK.

The Team members at Target Valley Stream has all the Printed Press in New York on their side, the broadcast Press especially CBS has ignored this Story continuing to rake in advertising Dollars at the cost of Targets Team Members.

This Friday REAL CHANGE WILL COME the Valley Stream Store Target Team Members will vote they WILL WIN Target will win too, Target will for the first acknowledge there was always things they haven't done right and the People who work matters too.

Only 8 Days to go for Change at Target Valley Stream continue to Support the TROOP'S at Target Valley Stream. The team will Vote to bring Change o the Tyranny at Target. Reasonable wages, Vacation with pay, No more suppression of hours to Team Members who need them, The Team Members will finally have a say, keep the support going, The City of New York is with the Team and so should you. Target continues to use Fear to intimidate their Team Members, Step up and support the Team, when you shop at Target encourage the Team Members you come across to Vote for the Union. Most of these Team Members are young and Target has Driven the fear of God in them, Give them your support. We do not intend to destroy Target, we are only trying to stop Target from destroying us.

13 Long Days To Go!

Target Stores now In Canada


This is the Lucky thirteen (13)for the Team Members of Valley Stream Target Store because thirteen days from Today Deliverance will come. The Team will Vote to have Union representation in their Target Store.


The Team have held together under severe pressure from Target Valley Stream and Target Corporation. Target used all the tools they have to intimidate the Team members and dicourage the Team their legitimate Right to seek Union Representation. That has not worked.

The methods Target Valley Stream used only created further hostility and has pushed Team Members who were on the fencw to become definate supporters of the Labor action. Target went as far as to Threaten that they close the Valley Stream Store if the Team Members Vote to have Union Representation. TARGET KNOWS IF THEY CLOSE THE VALLEY STREAM STORE BECAUSE OF UNION ACTION THEY WILL HAVE TO CLOSE ALL THEIR STORES IN NEW YORK the Team knows that Target was giving them the BULLS.

The Team continue to seek the support of everyone, keep the pressure up this is a courageous group of Workers fighting for decent and liveable hourly wage, to be paid for extra for working on Holidays, paid Vacation not after working 1000 hours as is the current Practice by Target.

The Team Stand UP

After years of low wages and a meaningless Job opportunity the Team at the Valley Stream Target Store will Vote on JUNE 17TH to have Union representation.This is unprecedented for Target Corporation who have been under the radar and presenting themselves as a great place to work.

Of course Target do hire and train the best they can hire at minimum wage, the Team respond under duress to provide the best environment for the guest who visit their these well kept Stores.

It is difficult to complain about the quality of service in these Target Stores when you can find a Team member.Target must realise that 4-16 hours a week at minimum wage cannot feed a family or help their hard working Team members who attend college.

Team members must be paid holiday wage when when required to work on these important Retail Sales days, Team members must be paid a reasonable wage for work,Team Members will not be denied benefits by suppression of the number of hours they work while their availability is being suppressed by Target.

The Team Members at the Valley Stream Target Store will have a Union as of June 17th, this is a courageous Team and they will WIN!

Target Great Place to Shop

Chaos after close, no Team Members 
Target Stores is a great Place to shop prices are some of the best in retail the team members are well trained and for the most part fun and helpful.Target Team members work extremely hard but are worst paid in Retail.Not only they are paid the worst hourly rate some of these Target Team Members get only 4-12 hours weekly hours.

Team members have to rely on Taxpayers through the unemployment system to compliment their income. This is one of the hidden Corporate welfare that Company's like Target Corporation benefit from. These Target Team Members also have to depend on the various BENEFITS through the Department of Social Services like medical and Food Stamp compliment their living standards.

If Target Stores and Target Corporation increase these Team Member hourly income to a Living wage they would be able to relieve themselves of the Public BENEFITS PAY THEIR MEDICAL AND DON'T HAVE TO RELY ON TAXPAYERS for survival.

As a TAXPAYER you are PAYING TAXES 3 times now for Target Corporation to keep its Team Members. If you support the Team Members in their recent Action TO be UNIONIZED YOU WILL BE HELPING YOURSELF and the Team.

Result you may Pay a little more while Shopping at Target Stores

but as a Tax Payer you will only be Paying once.Remember Target Stores is a Great PLACE TO Shop the Team need your support.

Target Stores Off the Rails

Target Low wages will destroy Store
Obviously not many people making comments have ever worked for Target, Target was good when it did right by its employees however in the last 2 years after employing a CEO with Wall Street back ground they changed their business plans reducing guest services in their Stores and start filling their shelves with inferior attractively merchandise.

Guests continue to shop at Target because the Stores continue to maintain a clean environment, but more often than not the Store shelves are empty and advertised merchandise is not available the very day their sales start.Target does not believe anymore in catering to their guests but to Wall Street results. They create the environment where the guests will come to the store to make purchase, most times your merchandise is unavailable and they are hoping you will purchase some inferior cheap attractively packaged merchandise that the guests does not often need and will never use.

Target pays its Team members the lowest wage in the Retail Industry, even lower than their competitor Walmart, they offer the best benefit plan in the industry but only 20% of their employees enjoy those benefits. The people who do the really hard work in Target Stores does not enjoy any of the company's benefits because the Company employ them as perennial part time employees keeping them below the minimum hours that would enable them to to get these benefits.

Target Team Members for the most part does not even get paid for holidays, a very small percentage of them do because holiday pay this is calculated on an average hour worked basis.
Team members are willed to come into work on holidays but are not compensated for it but face punitive actions by store management sometimes without knowing if they do not show up for work on Holidays. These could from write ups to reduce hours or any other action that are discriminatory action that are packaged to appear otherwise.

The current action by Target giving funds $150.000.00 to a major Political Party to influence Legislative action may be not targeting Gays and Lesbians but is a reckless action by Target Corporation at a time when the average wage increase to its core sales floor employees is between 6-8 CENTS PER HOUR.

Target like most other major retailers including Walmart has vehemently fought against Unions convincing its Team Members they can protect them better than any Union can. This is a disservice to to its Team Members by giving them the opportunity to weigh the difference, if Unions are so bad let the Team Members find out.

This controversy and bad press gives Target an opportunity to take a broad view of what is and what was or whether the want to improve their tarnished image. To do this Target must rebuild it relations with his Team members giving them a reasonable wage for their backbreaking work they do, fill its Store shelves with advertised merchandise that its guests are kept happy and not stupid rain checks that never get satisfied and phony substitutes that no one wants.

Target is a good company gone off the rails for some time now get adult supervision in the building, time to wake up TARGET.
