Picante Easter Sail Around Jamaica

Follow Picante as she Sail around Jamaica, Captain Wright and crew sailed out of  (RJYC) Royal Jamaica Yacht Club Kingston on an Easter Sail around Jamaica. Without the usual winds yesterday it took 18 hours for their first stop in Bowden St Thomas arriving last night at 11:PM 3/23/2013.

Sunrise Sunday 3/24/2013 Captain Wright and crew departing Bowden for Port Antonio Errol Flynn Marina embarking on  one of the most challenging part of the sail the sea's around Morant Point on the North Easter end of Jamaica.

Picante and her crew with Peter Wright at her helm helped by beautiful tropical winds made good time and latest update is passing the coastline of Long Bay in Portland. The Crew has a eta of 8:30 into the Errol Flynn Pier Port Antonio.Long Bay, long beautiful beach lies on the North Eastern end of Jamaica, Long Bay. The contentious ocean pounds ashore onto a wide, palm shaded sandy beach. The beach is dotted with Tiki Hut bars, restaurants and cabins. The vibe is laid back and European.

Boston Beach is a coastal community on the north coast of the island of Jamaica, with a public beach which is one of the few beaches in Jamaica attracting surfers. It is located nine miles east of the town of Port AntonioBoston Beach is known for its "jerk" pork and "jerk chicken" stands and is known as the the birthplace of the spicy jerk seasoning made from Jamaicas allspice now used on cuisines all over the world. In Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, there is a popular local take out restaurant known as "Boston Jerk Pit" with several Boston Jerk in the Bronx New York , Atlanta Georgia, Miami Florida and elsewhere.

At James Bond Beach Oracabessa near Ocho Rios

James Bond Beach sits on a small peninsula at Oracabessa Bay about 10 miles (16 km) from Ocho Rios on Jamaica's north coast. Located just off Main Street Oracabessa, adjacent to luxury estates Golden-eye and Golden Clouds, James Bond Beach has brightly painted changing rooms, a water sports center  a bar and a restaurant. It is surrounded by crystal clear water on three sides and an amazing backdrop; the lush mountains of St Mary reaching straight down to the sea.

Both locals and tourists come to James Bond Beach to drink, dine, sun and swim. Celebrity friends of owner Chris Blackwell, who is also a movie producer and founder of Island Records, sometimes stop by. A weekend regular is Carl Bradshaw, who appeared in such well-known Jamaica-based movies as The Harder They Come and The Mighty Quinn.

Update on Easter Sail after a few days Captain Peter Wright report Picante is about to Port in Montego Bay Yacht Club, some other news about one of the other vessel is not so satisfying. Captain wright mention lost  vessel but will give us those details later.

Montego Bay is known for its large regional hospital (Cornwall Regional Hospital), port facilities, second homes for numerous upper class Jamaicans from Kingston as well as North Americans and Europeans, fine restaurants, and shopping opportunities. The coast land near Montego Bay is occupied by numerous tourist resorts, most newly built, some occupying the grounds of old sugar cane plantations with some of the original buildings and mill-works still standing. The most famous of these are the White Witch's Rose Hall and Tryall, both of which now feature world-class golf courses.
The infrastructure of the city is going through a series of explosive modernization which once completed, aims to keep Montego Bay as a top destination in the Caribbean and the world.

Update on the Easter cruise from captain Peter Wright News on Tai Pan, it is not clear as to the difficulty she had but her crew is well.

Peter Wright, " I just got out of bed in Bloody Bay in Negril Jamaica.  It is a glorious morning on the start of the second leg of this cruise.

It has been great for Picante so for great sailing and camaraderie.

Yesterday we however got the bad news that Tai Pan who started the cruise with us in Kingston and followed us to Port Antonio never made it back to Kingston.  Good news Tai Pan captain and crew are all 100% fine and better off with a lot of useful experience.  Tai Pan is however in Davy Jones locker by Yallahs Jamaica.

The best part of the cruise for me however is the fact that my big son Jared Wright who like the rest of the HATE sailing took the minibus from Kingston and joined in Montego Bay and woke up by my side this morning.  As the saying goes, somethings in life are priceless.

We are here for today and tomorrow, leaving for Bluefields in Westmoreland on Monday morning".

Bloody Bay Beach
Picante moored at salubrious Black River for 2 days now. Rupert and Michelle Bent brought down one of their jibs last night and stayed and we all got Picante shipshape, we've done all our repairs from 011:00 hrs this morning.

Weather just as bad as yesterday as predicted by Met office. Waiting on weather window as predicted by Met Office to be good tomorrow to make a one hop to RJYC at 05:00 hrs in morning. Cap. Peter Wright

Mitt Romney will Not Repeal the, "Affordable Care Act"

Obama Care Act signed into Law

As Governor of Commonwealth of Massachusetts Mitt Romney had the vision to pass health care reform for all its Citizens. Mitt Romney health care at its inception increased the cost of health care as was expected, now that Mr Romney Health care has been fully implemented and 98% of the citizens of Massachusetts are covered by Mr Romney's health care the cost of Health care in the commonwealth is inching its way down and Massachusetts residents are some of the healthiest in the United States.

At its inception Mitt Romney thought Romney Care would be a model for the whole Country having the vision of health care cost going down because preventative care was a big part of the Romney Care Law. Most Private health care providers does not include preventative care in their plans and if they do these are the most expensive plans affordable by the majority of the public.
  • Some of the many benefits of Romney Care are:-
  • early cancer screening
prostate exams Mental health, early childhood screening for kids, insurance companies in Massachusetts were no longer to limit patient care. This Romney health care over time was Mitt Romney's remarkable achievement as the Governor of the commonwealth of Massachusetts and was done with by-part-ism support of Republicans and Democrats.

Supreme Court Affordable Care Act, Constitutional!

"The Affordable Care Act Passed by United States Congress and signed into Law By President Obama is now deemed Constitutional by the Supreme Court the highest Court in the Land will not be repealed by Mitt Romney should he become the President of the United States".

  • The "Affordable Care Act" or "Obama Care"is the single greatest achievement so far of the Obama Presidency and was the vision of Mitt Romney, should Mitt Romney become President he would share evenly the Legacy of Health Care reform in the United States.

  • The second reason Mitt Romney Will not repeal the Affordable Care Act, Romney having brought universal health care to the people of Massachusetts will never want to be labelled for having taken away the possibility  of comprehensive Health Care from 44 Million Americans this would too dubious a label.
Lastly Mitt Romney will be mindful of his place on the pantheon of Presidential Club, Barack Obama will be in that Club for a long time and Mitt Romney if elected President will join that Club at some time. Wiping out Barack Obama's most important achievement will not be a easily forgotten fete.

Both leaders will be forever tied at the hip for having the genius of passing a Law that escaped other Presidents Republicans and Democrats a like for over 100 years.

Through the tunnel of Love

Tunnel of Love
Rafting on the Rio Grande

Tunnel of Love, "Passing  through is the memory of a lifetime".

Rafting in Jamaica like so much else, is largely chill. You are taken on a trip of a lifetime serenely downstream on the same kind of 30-foot-long, bamboo-lashed rafts that Farmers once used for transporting their sugarcane and bananas to market. This ride enchanting gives you a chance to loose your mind in the vegetation that surrounds and wonders that surrounds you.

The Beautiful Tropical Bamboo Palms bunched as they Grow to 40 ft- 60 ft and clustered on the side of the mountain. The Sky that always seem to be blue with the yellow sun piercing at your body baking it to a golden tan. With birdlike whisper the water rippling over the uneven smothered riverbed rocks. The experience does not lend itself to verbal conversation but an  imagination a selfish ride through another of natures true experience.
Tropical Bamboo

Beautiful rocks carved by the ferocious river into monuments that changes over time. There's the," lovers rock", once a huge solid Rock over time Hew through by the ferocity of the Rio Grande River now called the Tunnel of Love the story told by your Raft Captain who remain silent throughout trip only to answer questions or point out wonders you may may have missed, "Passing  through this Tunnel is the memory of a lifetime".  The Rio Grande River Experience is like none other of the four River rafting trips you can take in Jamaica.
This Rio Grande River ride should not end without a break at the midpoint to enjoy a swim in this Natural tropical water pouring from the Blue mountains of Jamaica twirling its way through the John Crow Mountains into the Rio Grande Valley and finally into this awesome lifetime experience. What feels like cold water as you enter will embrace and clench your body into a romantic fervor, relaxing and refreshing. After a 30 minute swim and frolic, your body would have absorbed natural minerals that makes the skin like velvet.
The final leg of this trip 2 miles to Rafters Rest in St. Margaret's Bay, Portland, a slow ride into the Sunset, (best time to start Rafting 2:00 pm with stop and 4:00 pm without stop) as your trip ends so does the day as the amazing sun sink into the western skies and into the Caribbean sea.

The Rio Grande Rafting experience is like none other of the four rafting opportunities in Jamaica. Rio Grande rafting begins 8 miles out of Port Antonio and can be booked through River Raft Ltd.Tel: 876 952 0889, the Jamaica Tourist board and Rafters rest in St. Margaret's Bay.
"Passing  through is the memory of a lifetime".

Lovers Leap St. Elizabeth Jamaica

Peaks of the Blue Mountains Jamaica

The legend of Lovers Leap is based around the romance of two slaves who to prevent separation from each other jumped from a 1700′ cliff to escape their English Masters.

The cliff, the spot and the view are all part of the story told daily from their balcony their tour guides. This view is one of the most spectacular on the island, offer visitors a panoramic view of the coastline from Rocky Point, Clarendon in the east, to Pedro Bluff, Treasure Beach in the west and the mountains with Alumina Partners Jamaica. The view from the balcony is clear and the tranquility that one feels become tangible as birds slowly float by on warm air currents.By night a breath taking splendor of the lit Al-Part mining facilities at Nain seem like a Ship surrounded by darkness.

Feeling thirsty at this point? Step into our Toby Bar where the famous “lovers punch” will stimulate the senses. With a variety of other natural Jamaican flavors including various Appleton Jamaican Rum distilled at the Appleton Estates Holland Bamboo Grove not far from Lovers Leap.
