After President Obama addressed the nation from the White House, former presidential campaign opponent Sen. John McCain delivered a blistering critique of the President.
“ I've been around this town for a number of years, and as is well know, had an interest in the Presidency more than academic”, McCain said as he began. John McCain noted that his perch as a lawmaker has afforded him a chance to see several presidents handle national moments of crisis.
“As I watched other presidents address crises, the way that they were able to resolve them and resolve them with presidential leadership".
“So what did the president of the United States just do? Well, he made a couple of jokes, laughed about how people are going to be here for New Year’s, and sent a message of confrontation to the Republicans".“ I guess I have to wonder!
McCain-Hotheaded
"The thought of [McCain] being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me." - Senator Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi), the Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
